One of the biggest mistakes we see businesses make is having an insufficient invoicing system. There are a variety of systems you can use, but you need to decide on one, and stick to it! Whether you bill on retainer, before or after the service is provided, the important part is that your invoicing system is consistent. Simply put, it’s a mistake to rely on clients to know how much to pay you and how to get that payment to you. Instead, make it easy for people to pay you!
Tell them how much they owe you, and then make it EASY for your clients to pay you! Offer multiple payment services, including online credit card payment options, as well as having your address easily seen on your invoice for those that want to mail checks. You should review other third party applications such as PayPal or Venmo as another way to receive funds. As they say, “Cash is King!”
